Fifty-Fifty is a symbolic self portrait of the artist’s Chinese and Black cultural heritage. The work features takeout boxes, chopsticks, and a fortune cookie as a representation of the artist’s Chinese American heritage. A graffiti tag of their last name and a hair pick in the place of chopsticks is used as a reference to her Black cultural identity. The goal of this piece was to create a portrait through concept rather than physical form.

Monomyth: Initiation is an intaglio drypoint etching drawing inspiration from Albert Camu’s Myth of Sisyphus. The work reflects on the hero’s journey and places value on the process rather than result.
